A white faded tom with sparkling starry fur was standing over a gray tabby body lying in a puddle of blood. His eyes were filled with grief, and he was crouched down, touching noses with the stiff body. Hopeheart's eyes widened as she recognized the gray tabby's pelt when she entered the camp. Graycloud!
Summoning all of her strength, Hopeheart ran towards the medicine cat, finding a faint breathing rising from his belly, although a thick trail of blood was flowing from his mouth. An orange tom was racing to Graycloud, his eyes wide with panic. "Graycloud! Graycloud! I'm so sorry! I should have been there to help you!"
Graycloud looked up, his head slightly shaking from weakness, but smiling, he mewed, "It was not your...your fault, Flameclaw," he gasped as he tried to struggle for breath. "Skystar can't save me..it's..time..." Heaving a sigh, Graycloud closed his eyes, and lay still, never moving again.
Tears were rolling down her brother's face, and she felt a stab of pain. First his sister, and now his mentor. She couldn't help but feel a stab of pity for the medicine cat apprentice. Hopeheaert turned her head to the former FeatherClan leader. "How did this happen?"
"Silverheart grabbed Graycloud's throat while he was trying to help his Clanmates to heal and..ripped it open." The last three words came out as a snarl. Fear pulsed through Hopeheart. Was Silverheart really that powerful?
A brown tabby medicine cat with starry fur padded up to the three cats. "I haven't seen Blazeheart yet," she mewed, staring at Graycloud's lifeless body. She stared at Skystar, her gaze full of questions. "Perhaps he faded away?"
"I don't know, Leaftail, but perhaps it's good that he's gone." A growl rose in the former leader's throat. Didn't Blazeheart betray him? And Stripefur? While they were both still young? Hopeheart remembers hearing stories from Spiritfur when they were apprentices. Stripestar's father never loved her, and he always wanted revenge on them ever since his former mate, Angelfeather, died.
"He never understood that my death was not his kits' faults," A beautiful white she-cat with blue eyes mewed, sounding serious. Coldness pricked at the she-cat's eyes, having them narrowed. "And he never will." Those last words came out with a cold tone.
"That's not true!" Another voice yowled, and, behind the Highrock, Hopeheart saw a silhouette of a tabby tom with bright red eyes completely dark in the shadows. He leaped forward, and Hopeheart saw his bright orange fur, and the tom smelled foul, making her wrinkle her nose.
Angelfeather flattened her ears and unsheathed her claws, a snarl rising in her throat. Hopeheart flinched. It was hard to see the beautiful gentle mother of Stripestar looking so fierce. "You've taken out your pain on my kits- your kits! When they've done nothing! You hated them! I told you while you were going to try to destroy Stripestar the other day, that my death was not their fault, yet you still hated them!"
Hopeheart thought she saw a flash of anger in Blazeheart's eyes. He narrowed them, and flattened his ears. "I do not hate them! Not anymore." Suddenly, a shadow crossed his face, and his voice was barely a whisper. "I've always loved them without realizing it. And I am sorry for what I have done." He stared at the FeatherClan leader who was next to Angelfeather, and the white warrior, Cloudfur, who was standing next to her. Cloudfur's eyes were widened and flashed with hurt, while Stripestar bent her head, her fur turning dull.
"Why did you take your pain out on us?" Cloudfur mewed, stepping forward. He didn't look angry- in fact, he looked curious, although his claws were unsheathed, as if he half-expected his father to lash out and attack them. It's true that this might be a trick, Hopeheart thought.
"I was blinded by pain," Blazeheart began, swallowing down a sob. "I have always missed Angelfeather. I wanted to see her again. I wanted to kill Skystar only to see Angelfeather in StarClan when I get my nine lives." He stared at Angelfeather, love filling his eyes. The white she-cat's eyes were widened with shock and hurt.
Leaftail stepped forward. "You knew you had to wait for your time to join StarClan," the medicine cat mewed, flicking her tail. "You could have waited. It's not worth hurting others just so you can see your former mate. You were sent to the Dark Forest because of your selfish actions."
Blazeheart turned his head away.
Suddenly, a yowl was heard farther away, and Blazeheart saw Silverheart running up to Leaftail, and he leaped at her, with unsheathed claws. Leaftail twisted around and hissed, baring her fangs, unsheathing her claws. The medicine cat slashed at Silverheart's side, sending sprays of blood on the ground. Patches of blood were sprayed on Skystar's white face and Hopeheart's, making them blink.
"You useless medicine cat!" Silverheart hissed, biting Leaftail's paw. Leaftail shrieked, and Silverheart unhooked his teeth and glared at the other StarClan members. Skystar's fur was bristling as a Dark Forest cat leaped up at him from behind, same with Angelfeather, Hopeheart, Cinderleaf, Cloudfur, and Stripestar. There was no cat there to help save Leaftail.
Noticing that he was distracted, Leaftail bit down on Silverheart's cheek on his side, though, not very deep, sending down thin trials of blood dripping from Silverheart's silver fur. The Dark Forest cat shrieked with pain and, as Leaftail was about to leap at Silverheart, the Dark Forest cat rose its paw and sliced it down onto Leaftail's belly, sending down a waterfall of blood on the ground. Leaftail fell down, her blood forming into a pool. Satisfaction surged through Silverheart, and he padded away, chuckling.
Pushing off a Dark Forest cat, Stripestar ran towards her former best friend, and wailed, "No! Leaftail!" Her tail was fluffed up with fear for her friend, and Hopeheart saw that the medicine cat was starting to fade away, along with her own blood. Leaftail stared at Stripestar and gave her a faint smile while the blood was trickling out of her mouth, and, after a few moments, the medicine cat faded away completely. Stripestar's eyes were filled with grief and she laid down in Leaftail's blood, drinking the last of her scent. Stripestar will never see Leaftail in StarClan.
Grief pricked at Hopeheart's chest. The medicine cat helped guide her through her life, even when she was an apprentice. Leaftail will be dearly missed.
A Dark Forest cat was about to leap up from behind Stripestar while she was grieving, until her brother, Cloudfur, leaped up at the Dark Forest cat. The black cat hissed and narrowed its red eyes, unsheathed its claws and sank its teeth into Cloudfur's neck, bright red blood flowing out. The white warrior hissed in pain and tried  to drag himself free, but the Dark Forest cat had its grip on too hard, and Hopeheart winced as she heard a bone snap, and the Dark Forest cat let Cloudfur land down on the ground. The white warrior lay limp, unmoving. Padding up to him, Hopeheart nudged his white fur from her nose, but he didn't respond. Stripestar's brother was dead. Fear surged through her. Were all of the cats going to die..? Are we going to lose after all?

Looking up, she prayed to StarClan. Please, let us all have strength to defeat these cats. The smell of Cloudfur's death scent reeked, but she ignored it. The scent was everywhere. She blinked up at the sky, and suddenly, dark black clouds from both sides were starting to come together..turning the area pitch-black. Narrowing her eyes, Hopeheart tried to see Stripestar or any other cat she knew, but couldn't find anyone. Suddenly, she heard screaming from the air, and, feeling a warm presence near her, Hopeheart saw bright yellow...flames? Fire..? It was raining fire! They were showing small rays of light as they were flying down, and Hopeheart saw a flame of fire strike a Dark Forest cat. She saw fire forming on the cat's fur, and it hissed in pain, suddenly disappearing as it was completely covered with fire, like a forest fire.
Trying to make her eyes get used to the dark, Hopeheart saw a large silver tabby she-cat and a flame-colored pelt race towards the entrance of FeatherClan's camp. Stream and Sun! Hopeheart remembers seeing them in her dreams. They told her about the prophecy. Narrowing her eyes, Hopeheart noticed that Stream's eyes were glowing red. Her heart sank. Did a Dark Forest cat possess her..? No. Stream and Sun were way too powerful to let that happen. Was Stream controlling the rain of fire? Hopeheart yelped as a fire-flame struck her, and she quickly ran off in fear, hoping it won't catch her on fire. She felt a wave of relief as the breeze that was cooling it off forced it away. Perhaps only the Dark Forest cats can catch on fire., she thought.
The gifted warrior turned to Stream and Sun. Both cats nodded, and twisted around, ready go help the FeatherClan cats fight. Hopeheart ran off to join them. I hope we will win. StarClan, please give us strength!
Enjoy.
